The Virgin Knitter

Mother Daughter Knits

me and mommy

We are a mother and daughter duo who love to chit chat and knit non-stop after dinner! We hope you love our creations as much as we do. Each creation will say who it was made by- and I’m sure you will begin to notice our difference in tastes and styles!

Emilee (daughter) graduated early with her Bachelor’s of Music in Flute Performance in December 2008.  While waiting for graduate school to start in the Fall of 2009, she began knitting- NON-STOP!  She started a blog called thevirginknitter (because she was still relatively new at knitting) and didn’t realize there was such a huge community of knitters!  She fell in love with words like yo, sl, psso, knowing that no one around her understand her new found language…so she taught her mother so she would have a partner!

Cathy (mother) is a Sociology Professor at a State University.  Since she was a crocheter earlier in her days, she took to knitting very quickly!  Now if she hears someone says, “Yo, Sl st, P2tog, Yo, k2, Yo, k1, Yo,” she knows that it is not a new “rap song” that she doesn’t understand, but instead, it is a wonderful pattern that can be made into a scarf! With her background in bead work, she figured out how stitch markers could be made and fell in love with that process too.

(daughter says) We love working with yarn, but especially cotton!  It comes in so many colors and is never itchy.   My grandma taught me to knit, and she only worked with cotton (because of her skin allergies), so cotton is also special to me in that way. She recently passed away in November 2008.  So we dedicate this shop to her.  She was a talented and quick knitter and I wish she could have seen how far I’ve come with knitting.

We both hope that you love our creations as much as we do!  Weather you are a knitter, lover of knitted things, or soon to be knitter, you are welcome to our shop!  Me and my mom knit together, bead together, laugh and bond together.  This shop is truly a team effort!  Contact us anytime if you have any questions :)
